Almost sold on this one, been researching for weeks. along with trying to decide if I want a natural filtering or this one. I plan to remedy the gaps by cutting pieces of grid and just laying them on maybe some self stick tape you can't see. I'm after simplicity and easy maintenance.

I'm worried about my black nerite. It's in a tank with my betta. I had to do a whole tank refresh after I inherited the tank and it was super nasty. Now I'm worried that it doesn't have enough to eat. There are live plants in the tank, I feed the fish flakes and dried worms so there's that. The snail will not touch the snail wafers or pellets I've tried. They just make the tank nasty and I have to clean them out. Snail seems a little sluggish the last couple of days. What can I do for my little buddy?

Just had this happen yesterday..PG&E here in California decided to do a 8 hour shut off for maintenance ( was only 100 ° F).. we constantly stirred the fish water, and didn't feed....only casually was my expensive back filter.. it won't start.. hoping replacing the impeller well save it... and i always have a back up filter.

Great tips. I see so many posts about people losing their entire tank when the unexpected happens. And it has happened to me before. One thing which can really help as a last resort if there is no backup power to the filter is to remove the media and place it over an airstone connected to a battery-powered pump. Or manually circulate the water by regular but careful stirring or pouring tank water into a hang on back filter. This keeps the media bacteria healthy, prevents a toxic filter bacteria die-off, and continues a small amount of biological filtration.

I’m pretty sure we don’t have these in Australia, at least I have never seen them. We are pretty strict with our laws surrounding animals, and very concerned about their welfare, compared to other countries, so I can understand them not being allowed to be sold in Australia.

So other videos said they tended to be aggressive and would do better alone and now im confused. Do i get two and watch for fighting? What do i do if they fight? I cant really separate them long term

I looked after my neighbour's gold fish for 5 years, when he first got them. Learnt all the aspects, now he died, they are with me. I bought them a 220 litre second hand tank that came with all the goodies, light, filter, bubble machine, I bought them plants, and I'm sooo happy to see them in a tank 3 times bigger than what they had. I love watching them, and silly me, I'm starting to worry..tomorrow I'll buy them some peas. My neighbour only fed them every second day, I've been feeding them every day, I hope I'm not going to kill them with kindness.

I'm more focused on making my aquariums look as natural as possible, so these wouldn't fit in with anything I would do. I feel like these are for small children

I have two angelfish in a 10 gallon quarantine now, but I don't necessarily want more angelfish babies in there. I don't know if they are male or female. Thanks for the non-judgmental approach! This whole thing got imposed on us and we’re scrambling to fix it. It seems like the pet store also told us everything wrong. We got an African dwarf frogs, Dalmatian lyretail molly, and glofish cory. They said we just needed to test the water in the store after 24 hours. Didn’t tell us anything about corys being in schools. I just feel awful! AFD died. Trying to spare the others. Ammonia is coming down, so that something. Do you agree with others who sayings hard to put too much stability or prime? I’m trying to measure this carefully, but having trouble.

I was wanting to get a fish for so long so I looked up easy fish to take care of and i found it, the Cherry barb. The perfect pet for me as i have a mega cherry obsession and a nicki minaj barb myself

I keep Bloodfin Tetra with Platy's and they do just fine (sometimes the oddest fish cohabitate with great results). I never thought that Bloodfin's would do so well with Platy's... Yet, Platy fish are so docile that they will get along with many likeminded fish, even Goldfish (which I have also done without concern). Great vid, keep up the good work!

Hi there. I’m a new pet fish owner and currently have 2 female dwarf gourami in my 37L fish tank. I know the advice is to give a pinch of flakes at feeding time is recommended alongside however much they can eat within 2 minutes. However, I’m not sure how big a pinch of flakes is enough or if two minutes of eating time is sufficient, especially as one of the two fish is ready for feeding time as soon as I near the tank, whilst the other one isn’t and she manages to eat most of the food .. can you do a video on actual fish feeding showing how much food you put in please? I’ve struggled to find this in pictures despite my Google search so I thought someone with a title like Nerdy Fish Girl sounded like just the person to help 🥰. Many thanks
